Totness Recreation Park sits beside Mount Barker, about 33 km south-east of Adelaide, in two sections either side of the South Eastern Freeway. It protects stringybark, blue gum and manna gum woodland, and holds a dam built in 1884 to supply water for steam locomotives on the line to Victor Harbor.
Enter the northern section from Milne Road, Totness, or the southern section via the Haines Fire Track at Paechtown. Dogs are welcome on a lead no longer than 2 metres. There are no visitor facilities, so bring water.
It's a low-key leg-stretch if you're staying in or passing through Mount Barker.
